Eduard Schesler

A picture of Eduard Schesler

I am a Junior Research Fellow at the Erwin-Schrödinger Institute in Vienna, where I work on a joint project with Goulnara Arzhantseva. Before, I was a Postdoc at the FernUniversität Hagen in the algebra group of Steffen Kionke. Before, I did my PhD at the Universität Bielefeld under the supervision of Stefan Witzel. Even before that I did my Bachelor and Master studies at the Universität Düsseldorf, where I wrote my Master thesis under the supervision of Oleg Bogopolski.

Research interests

Most of my research falls in the area of geometric group theory. I am particularly interested in groups that act on Euclidean buildings, hyperbolic spaces, and rooted trees. Properties of groups that I am especially interested in include finiteness properties, amenability, hyperbolicity, profinite completions and any type of asymptotic geometric and probabilistic behaviour.
